Department of Computer Science and Engineering
The Department has been in the forefront of establishment of the TIFAC-CORE on     pervasive computing technologies at a cost of Rs. 5.14 crores in the college. One Asst.     Professor and 2 Lecturers have been deputed from the department to work in the     CORE.
The department has received a funding grant of Rs. 2.01 Lakhs from Tamil Virtual     University for a project titled "Language Localization for Tamil in Mobile Phones".
A project titled "Predictive texting in mobile phones" with a funding grant of Rs. 2.15     Lakhs is under consideration in Tamil Virtual University.
The Department is in collaboration in the computational studies aspect in a project     prepared by Chemistry Department which is under consideration by Indian Council for     Medical Research.
A staff student team of the Department has won the second prize in the State level     Project competition conducted under the auspices of kanithamizh sangam
Department of TIFAC-CORE IN PERVASIVE COMPUTING TECHNOLOGIES
Velammal Engineering College (VEC) signed an MOU with Technology Information Forecasting     and Assessment Council (TIFAC) on September 23 2005 to create a Centre of Relevance and     Excellence (CORE) in Pervasive Computing Technologies. With this, VEC joins an exclusive     club of 25 other top institutions who have created COREs in various domains. (Read More)
